Boys That Bite (blood coven #1) by Mari Mancusi
Publication Date: April 4th, 2006
Genre: YA Paranormal

Summary

Two sisters—as different as the sun and the rain. For one, getting into the Blood Coven is to die for. But for the other, getting out could be lethal...

When Sunny McDonald gets dragged to Club Fang by her twin sister Rayne, she doesn't expect to find anything besides a bunch of Goth kids playing at being vampires. But when some guy mistakes Sunny for her dark-side-loving sister and bites her on the neck, she finds out that his fangs are real—and deadly.

Now, Sunny has less than a week to figure out how to reverse the bite, or else she's going to end up as the perpetually undead. And not only will she be a vampire, she'll also be bonded to Magnus—the bloodsucker who bit her—forever. And forever is a really long time...

I've been looking at this one for awhile and I think I'm finally going to get it. (once I have money that is) With all the reviews in mind, I don't mind it being a light, fun paranormal. It's nice to read some of those once in a while.

Secondhand Spirits (Witchcraft Mystery #1) by Juliet Blackwell

Once Upon A Time

Centers on a woman with a troubled past who is drawn into a small town in Maine where the magic and mystery of Fairy Tales just may be real.

If you are a fan of Fairy Tales then this is a show for you.

I have always had a thing for Fairy Tales and like, medieval times so I was excited to see this trailer on youtube and I couldn't wait for it to come out ever since.

Every Fairy Tale we have been told all live together in one place and of course they all always get their happily ever after except one. Ruefully tired of it, The Evil Queen decides to crash Snow Whites wedding to Prince Charming telling all that she'll be putting on a curse on all of them where only her (and whomever is on her side) get to live happily ever after while everyone else gets misery while in the real world frozen in time.

God, this show gave me goosebumps. Everytime a Fairy Tale popped up on the TV screen I couldn't help but smile. And seeing what they do and how they are in the real world is pretty cool, if I don't say so myself.

The way they did the flashbacks were nice and the world they've created is breath taking. I fell in love with every Fairy Tale character and I believe the actors and actress did them well. I even lovely hated The Evil Queen, she is ruefully evil and dooesn't hold back on it.

The little boy Henry is great and how he knows all this is true about the Fairy Tales, well, I can't wait to find out. I mean, there's got to be more to it then just a book. *shrugs* I don't know. Oh and the ending I loved, it was cool to see someone I thought I wasn't going to see again....

Not wanting to say much more and spoil it for you readers, I'll tell you this,

Its great for the whole family, for Fairy Tale lovers, or people whom just want to see a show that isn't like the rest thats out there. I give it,

Waiting on Wednesday (6)

Welcome to Waiting on Wednesday! Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases we are eagerly anticipating. This week I am anxiously awaiting:

In search of a future that may not exist and faced with the decision of who to share it with, Cassia journeys to the Outer Provinces in pursuit of Ky - taken by the Society to his certain death - only to find that he has escaped, leaving a series of clues in his wake.

Cassia's quest leads her to question much of what she holds dear, even as she finds glimmers of a different life across the border. But as Cassia nears resolve and certainty about her future with Ky, an invitation for rebellion, an unexpected betrayal, and a surprise visit from Xander - who may hold the key to the uprising and, still, to Cassia's heart - change the game once again. Nothing is as expected on the edge of Society, where crosses and double crosses make the path more twisted than ever.

Publication November 1st, 2011

I fell in love with the first cover and I once again fell for this one. I'm actually, kinda excited for this baby. I want to see what happens to Cassia and her and everybodies future.

What are you Waiting on this week?

Fairy Bad Day

While most students at Burtonwood Academy get to kill demons and goblins, fifteen-year-old Emma gets to rid the world of little annoying fairies with glittery wings and a hipster fashion sense. She was destined to be a dragon slayer, but cute and charming Curtis stole her spot. Then she sees a giant killer fairy - and it's invisible to everyone but her! If Emma has any chance of stopping this evil fairy, she's going to need help. Unfortunately, the only person who can help is Curtis. And now, not only has he stolen her dragon-slayer spot, but maybe her heart as well! Why does she think it's going to be a fairy bad day?

So it's been awhile since I've written a book review on here (A month and I can't believe it took me so long to get through this book) and the reason was because of this book. Now the main reason behind that could be because it didn't really grab me and maybe, too, a small (very, very small part) is because of school and sometimes I'm tired after the long drive home. (note: I didn't read it everyday or skipped a week). But deep down I think it was the book itself.

The concept sounded nice, my kind of thing, and the cover, I just love the cover but the execution it just wasn't.....great. I think I was imagining something else before I dove into it which might have ruined the book for me or maybe it just fell flat because I was hoping for more.

One cute boy.
One tough girl.
One giant killer fairy.
What could possibly go wrong?

Well, for one I felt like some sentences were missing some words. Need some more editing time I think. And second, you know when the characters are searching for answers and asking questions, well the thing that bugged me was when they asked the question and then all of a sudden someone squeals out "Oh look, here it is!!!" or something like that and to me it felt very.....amateur. Definitely when they kept doing it over and over again in this one scene. It just pushed a nerve I think. It pushed and pushed till I was almost to the point of throwing the book at a wall and I don't get that feeling very often.

Lets see, what else is there.....oh. The love interest. I don't know maybe I like it when it develops a little more or have it feel like we to want to fall for him, for the romance and I didn't feel like that with this one. Yes, the guy is sweet and he's there for the main character, Emma, but I feel like I don't know what their true connection is. It feels very....vague.

And lastly, I felt like there were a few cliche's and I know that happens. Every genre has a certain formula, you know rules. I should know I write too. But what makes a YA paranormal different, unique from other YA paranormal ones is how we use the rules, bend them, make our own along the way. Except I felt this one didn't instead follow every rule in the rule book. The only thing she made her own rules on was the fairies which I'll talk about in a little bit.

I just feel like I've seen/read it all before and maybe this is a sign to take a break from this genre and move on to the next for awhile.

Although, not everything was bad. For one the fairies oh how I love those little guys. They're sarcastic, stylish, sugar crazy. When they were in the picture you sure as hell would catch me cracking a smile. So if you like leopard legging wearing, skittle and Starbucks loving fairies then this is your book. Maybe if I read it in a different time (when I'm less busy) I may have like it more. So with all that was said I give it,

Spooktacular Song Sundays (2)

I love this song it makes me feel powerful, sexy, and lets my imagination roam. Yes, I know it sounds weird once I tell you the song but it's also from a favorite Halloween movie of mine, Trick R' Treat.

Sweet Dreams by Marilyn Manson

Cation: the video may be to much for some viewers or just maybe a little weird for you

Scene from Trick R' Treat. A little nudity but not much and I love the song they used in the background :) http://youtu.be/8WGahzNS8mo

Ashfall (Ashfall #1) by Mike Mullin
Publication Date: September 27, 2011
Genre: Science Fiction/ apocalyptic

Summary

Many visitors to Yellowstone National Park don't realize that the boiling hot springs and spraying geysers are caused by an underlying supervolcano. It has erupted three times in the last 2.1 million years, and it will erupt again, changing the Earth forever.

Fifteen-year-old Alex is home alone when the supervolcano erupts. His town collapses into a nightmare of darkness, ash, and violence, forcing him to flee. He begins a harrowing trek in search of his parents and sister, who were visiting relatives 140 miles away.

Along the way, Alex struggles through a landscape transformed by more than a foot of ash. The disaster brings out the best and worst in people desperate for food, clean water, and shelter. When an escaped convict injures Alex, he searches for a sheltered place where he can wait--to heal or to die. Instead, he finds Darla. Together, they fight to achieve a nearly impossible goal: surviving the supervolcano.

With nonstop action, a little romance, and realistic science, debut author Mike Mullin tells a mesmerizing story. Readers will turn Ashfall's pages breathlessly, and continue to ponder Alex and Darla's fate long after they close the book.

I was looking for a natural disaster book and I found the right one. So once Halloween is over (though I hate when it is) I'll be able to spend money on books again and this is at the top of my list. :)

Tucker and Dale vs. Evil

Two lovable West Virginian hillbillies, are headed to their "fixer-upper" vacation cabin to drink some beer, do some fishin', and have a good time. But when they run into a group of preppy college kids who assume from their looks that they must be in-bred, chainsaw wielding killers, Tucker & Dale's vacation takes a bloody & hilarious turn for the worse.

One day I was looking upon an actor/actress (don't remember) on IMDB, my favorite movie website that has all the updates. And when I came upon this title I just had to know. Going straight to the trailer (because I rarely read up on the concept first) I was amazed at what I saw, side splitting amazed. :)

So of course once I fell in love with the trailer I had to see if or when it was going to come out. It came out 2010 but not for the public yet. But me knowing people I went straight for the Internet. *hehe* And I found it. Though the audio was a little off it was still a good film. I think it actually made it a little funnier.

So you know the basic (concept up top ^). All Dale wanted to do was talk to the pretty blond not scare her. Dale's this lovable teddy bear but gets named as a craze hillbillie murderer thanks to one of her friends. And thanks to this friend he also gets named as a kidnapper just because he was trying to save the blond from drowning. So after he and Tucker take her back to their "fixer-upper" as she hit her head badly in the fall a chain of deaths begin to happen to her friends because they believe they need to save her from these murderer hillbillies.

One by one they all start to die in hilarious accident after hilarious accident and this is where Tucker & Dale believe these college students are part of a suicide pack while they of course believe the hillbillies are to blame. Which if I were in the kids situation I would too because sometimes at those deaths Tucker & Dale didn't always look so.....innocent.

The plot is great, humorous I mean what if the hillbillies are actually sweet and nice and not the craze murderers we portray them as. Told from Tucker & Dale's point of view while they work on fixing up the perfect summer home and also told in the College kids point of view. Which, one of them is very sick in the mind. Mental issues.

Sense of humor, dark humor, action and gore. A great treat for the horror lovers and people with a funny bone. A classic in the making and I give it

The first time I saw the cover I just fell in love and I know....that's wrong. But can you blame me? Plus the concept sounds great. I haven't read many books about robots/cyborgs so you know I'm excited for this one.

I've seen reviews on goodreads and so far so good. Yay!!!!! :) Oh and lunar people, Love.

Sidenote,
I've got a question for my fellow Bloggers out there. A simple one that I may already know the answer to but I still need to ask it. :)

ABC Family is doing there annual 13 Nights of Halloween and I would love to post the movies they're showcasing and write a few comments about them because I just love Halloween, it's my time of the year. But you see I already do post, like, TV quotes, TV reviews, and Book reviews. And of course a few Meme's like Waiting on Wednesday by Breaking the Spine and On My Wishlist by Book Chick City.

So, I was wondering if doing two post a day is alright? I'll only be doing it until Oct. 31 then I'll go back to one post a day.

So what do you think? Is it cool?

Loves & Thanks

The Twilight of Lake Woebegotten Harrison Geillor (Night Shade Books)
Publication Date: Oct 2011
Genre: Horror
Goodreads

Summary

A small town... a plucky heroin, a shiny vampire, and a hunkey Native American rival with a secret. But all is not as it seems in Lake Woebegotten. Let Harrison Geillor reveal what lies beneath the seemingly placid surface. You'll laugh. We promise.

When Bonnie Grayduck relocates from sunny Santa Cruz California to the small town of Lake Woebegotten, Minnesota, to live with her estranged father, chief of the local two-man police department, she thinks she''s leaving her troubles behind. But she soon becomes fascinated by another student - the brooding, beautiful Edwin Scullen, whose reclusive family hides a terrible secret. (Psst: they're actually vampires. But they're the kind who don''t eat people, so it's okay.)

Once Bonnie realizes what her new lover really is, she isn't afraid. Instead, she sees potential. Because while Bonnie seems to her friends and family to be an ordinary, slightly clumsy, easily-distracted girl, she's really manipulative, calculating, power hungry, and not above committing murder to get her way - or even just to amuse herself. This is a love story about monsters... but the vampire isn't the monster. (Goodreads)

I wouldn't have found this if it wasn't for Book Chick City. Thank you guys so much for posting this lovely. :) I just love spoofs when it comes to Twilight. It's just soooo easy to make fun of.

Beautiful Demons Sarra Cannon (Peachville High Demons #1)
Publication Date: October 29, 2010 (Kindle Edition)
Genre: Paranormal

Summary

Harper Madison isn't like other girls. She has extraordinary powers, but her inability to control them has gotten her kicked from so many foster homes she's lost count.

Shadowford Home is her last chance, and she hopes Peachville High will be the fresh start she needs. But when evidence ties her to the gruesome murder of a Demons cheerleader, Harper discovers this small town has a big secret.

Me I just wish it was in paperback but since I hear it's kind of like a short story then I get. But still, I'm more of a hard copy than computer types. The cover changed it used to be an cheerleading emblem which is what I was looking for and thought was pretty cool. But the new ones growing on me.

Last Man Standing

Mike Baxter is the marketing director for an iconic outdoor sporting goods store. He loves to have adventures while he's traveling for work and, of course, he drives a pick-up truck. While Mike is king of the hill at work, he's the odd man out in a home that is dominated by women -- namely his wife, Vanessa, and their three daughters, 22- year-old Kristin, 17-year-old Mandy and 14-year-old Eve. After being a stay-at-home mom for years, Vanessa recently returned to the workplace and was quickly promoted (much to the dismay of her primarily male co-workers). As a result of Vanessa's increased work load, Mike is pulled into more hands-on parenting than ever before.

This one's a hit in my house hold. We were laughing nonstop and my cheeks were burning in pain because of it. But that's good right?

The show is a little like Home Improvement but instead of three boys it's three girls and Tim is working in an outdoorsy shop where he sells guns, knives, crossbows, and where men can be manly.

And it works. It's a hoot and very, very relatable just ask my brother. Which, sidenote, I can not wait for when they all go on their period (sorry boys for using that word) that episode is going to be hysterical. But then again aren't they always.

Anyways, it's very enjoyable and a great way to be with the family. Just make sure to have ice packs on the side so when your cheeks start to hurt from smiling and laughing so hard. They've got a lot of references  like Glee, The Kardashians, and my favorite Lord Voldemort. Funny, funny stuff. Tim Allen has done it again, oh....and by the way welcome back to the TV screen Tim. :)

I love the actors and actress. I've seen most of them before and I enjoy watching them. They put a smile on my face. Just to name a few, besides Tim, Nancy Travis from The Bill Engvall Show and then theres Christoph Sanders whom played Ned in the Ghost Whisperer.

Over all it's a great show, perfect for family get togethers, you'll be talking about and even then you'll be laughing. I believe this show is going to do very well and I give it

Spring is in the air, and a radical group of “Repopulationists”— better known as Rabbits—are restless and ready to multiply. Unfortunately, these zealots manage to destroy a crucial barrier in north Seattle, unleashing the undead into the city. It’s not good news for Sadie Walker, who’s trying to live a normal
life and raise her nephew in peace—when he’s kidnapped by Rabbits. Now she’s got to fight off zombies and zanies and sail a shipload of survivors to safety when she’d love to tell them all to get a life. But hey, it is the zombie apocalypse, after all…

Publication is January 31, 2012

This lovely is the sequel to my all time favorite zombie book, Allison Hewitt is Trapped, which I read earlier this year. God, don't you just love the cover.

Anyways, I am very excited. The first one was real, breath taking, and surreal in some moments. Like you couldn't believe what you were reading but....in a good way. This felt like a true zombie book, one were you felt like you're watching a movie in your head.

The writing was amazing and I loved that it was in blogs so I'm excited to see how this one is written. I've already read some of the beginning thanks to the first one meaning I can not wait to get my hands on this one. If you can't tell, I'm very, very excited! :)

Oh...and for the people whom haven't read the first one I thorough doubt you'll have to to be able to read Sadie Walker. Different people, different story line, the only thing in common is the zombies.

My Soul to Take

In the sleepy town of Riverton, legend tells of a serial killer who swore he would return to murder the seven children born the night he died. Now, 16 years later, people are disappearing again. Has the psychopath been reincarnated as one of the seven teens, or did he survive the night he was left for dead? Only one of the kids knows the answer.

Adam "Bug" Heller (Max Thieriot) was supposed to die on the last night the Riverton Ripper wrecked havoc on that terrifying night. Unaware of terrifying crimes being committed to the seven children, he has been plagued by nightmares of their murders while not aware if they hold true or if he is simply imagining the images that haunt him. But if Bug hopes to save his friends from the monster that's returned, he must face an evil that won't rest...until it finishes the job it began the day he was born.

Wes Craven has done it again ladies and gentlemen. He's newest film, that isn't a part of the scream series, which by the way I love though that's not what we're talking about today. No, we're talking about the 90's style of My Soul To Take.

So, first off, I think what I love most about this film by Wes Craven was...the actors and actress he choose to do this movie. Because they are unknown, not A Lister's, people that I've only seen in a couple of movies, so we weren't watching only because of them but it was of the story that brought us to the couch.

Okay, that's a lie, I also wanted to watch for the reason of Max Thieriot whom plays the main guy, Bug. Which he played very well to say the least.

Second, the story, it intrigued me and I wanted to learn more about it. It kept me guessing all the way through until the last few scenes. Though I'll have to admit, I did second guess myself but only once then I got right back on track.

There are a few weird scenes showing off the mental health of the main character, Bug, but it's all a part of the story line, giving you a few ideas to think about.

However, I feel like there's a lot of hate on this movie but I can tell you that it's certainly not coming from me. Maybe because of the director, I don't know. But maybe it's the style and for some reason I also feel that the 90's, in the horror genre, don't get much appreciation now a days and I just don't know why.

Yes, the ones made in the 90's even the style, can be a little cheesy at times but there's just this certain charm to them, you know. Instead they rather remake them.

And, Yes. I'll admit I am a hater on most remakes, mostly on the ones were I have seen the original.

Lastly there are a few creepy moments so if you're veiwing this at night you should, either have the lights on or make sure your back is against a wall. But trust me, when you're watching you'll feel like someones spying on you and you'll get a few goosebumps along the way. :)

Recommended for horror fans alike and lovers of a good scare. Or for peolpe that just want to relax and waste time.

The concept sounds promising and very interesting, shows originality. I love the cover and I've never heard of her before so this'll be a first which means that I can't wait to learn more of this authors style.

Not much else I can say because this is the first of a possible series. Oh, and thanks to amazon for showing me this gem. I need a break from the paranormal world I live in. :)

Hollywood and Their Remakes

Over the weekend of 9/11 I saw a clip for the remake of Footloose. So, you sure as hell know I'm not okay with them doing this remake along also of the remake of Dirty Dancing. You can see me rant here.

Now, Hollywood, if you do a remake you got to follow the plot line and not change it. Because if you do, it just ruins the whole thing and ruins it for the people who grew up with this movie.

Here's the clip that changes the plot with one line;

If you've seen the original then you've caught the glitch.

See, in the original plot line dancing was against the law in this town and they had to work, I mean really work to get that dance, which is the whole reason of the movie. But if they have a dance every year and the adults take the time to do it then is there really a reason to rebel against. Yes, it's one dance but it's more than what the original cast got. They had to go out of their ways, like traveling to other towns to dance, and fight and bicker with their parents until they got the point across.

So for me, that is, that one line ruined the whole reason, the conclusion , the big event of the movie. Now, I'm really trying not to judge or be a hater but I loves me the original. And this is just my opinion and if you don't like it then don't read it. :)

Summer Song (9)

I've loved this song since the beginning and I love Sara Bareilles just as much. Her songs are so fun and of course have a lot of meaning to them, plus the talented voice that comes out of her mouth. :)

So this week I give to you, Gonna Get Over You. I love the video and if it wasn't for Kelly Clarkson's, Mr. Know It All, I woudln't have found it. So thank you.

Oh, and I love the ending....plus this song always puts a smile on my face and it doesn't help to have a cute music video to go with it.

Happy Listening!
