**New Adult Fantasy Novel**

~My Thoughts~

Omg, I didn’t think this world could get any scarier than the first one but I guess I was wrong! Though Soul Oath is written three months after Destiny Gift, it doesn’t take long before the heart racing action begins. And thank god for that! After the cliffhanger of the first one I did not want to wait 50 or so pages till the story actually got somewhere. Mrs. Haygert did an amazing job at always keeping me on my toes!
It isn’t long before the bats start attacking, getting worse with every passing minute, and they’re fiercer than before, determined to get Nadine’s blood. Poor Nadine! Lost and torn between two worlds, not really fitting into either one as she’s just been a pawn in a game. Though when she gets sucked back into this world, this war with the gods she’s out to prove to everyone that she isn’t just this weak little human.
However she doesn’t get this rush of determination till she loses something very precious to her. And oh my god, that was such a shocking turn of events. I couldn’t believe what I was reading! Mrs. Haygert writes breathtaking twist and turns, I honestly did not know where this story was heading! (Sometimes I felt like things dragged or was unsure with where things were going, however at the end everything made sense and I don’t think you could write it any other way) Trust me, you may think you know where it’s going but Mrs. Haygert is good at pulling the rug right out from under you.
Now let’s talk about the romance, shall we. In Destiny Gift it was all about Victor however as the puzzle pieces begin to fall into place we find out a secret about him and that he’s completely off limits. Poor Nadine! So in this one it’s all about Micah and oh my God! Nadine and his relationship develop at a pace that felt just right. Throughout the book you see that he cares and is concerned about her but of course there’s something holding him back, there’s always something. But not matter what, I became smitten and was so excited when Cup of Life (Everlast #2.5) was written in his point of view! Of course I jumped the gun with that one as soon as I finished this one!
Overall this world is so spine chilling, so actioned packed that I had to sometimes put down the book so I could breathe again haha. But no fear, this hooked me and when I was on a roll there was no way you could pry this out of my hands!

In just 321 pages Mrs. Haygert has you sitting on the edge of your seat one moment, then smitten with a very hot and heavy romance in the next, then in another your heart strings are being pulled every which way. Soul Oath is a read that’ll take a hold of you and you’ll be okay with it cause once you reach the end you’ll be wishing for more!

Sunday Songs (44) Who are you when I'm not looking

"Do you pour a little something on the rocks?
Slide down the hallway in your socks?
When you undress, do you leave a path?
Then sink to your nose in a bubble bath?"

"Do you break things when you get mad?
Eat a box of chocolates 'cause you're feelin' bad?
Do you paint your toes 'cause you bite your nails?
Call up momma when all else fails?

Who are you when I'm not around?
When the door is locked and the shades are down?
Do you listen to your music quietly?
And when it feels just right, are you thinkin' of me?

I wanna know
I wanna know
I wanna know

My oh my, you're so good-looking
But who are you when I'm not looking?"

This is the part where I’m supposed to tell you about myself. I could tell you that I am a romance writer. Or that I have my first novel coming out in 2014. Sure, I could tell you those kind of things. Like where I’m from, when I was born, etc. etc.  But I’m not particularly fond of traditional bio’s, so I’ll list some fun, or at the very least, interesting, facts about myself instead.
  • I like pumpkin spice lattes in the fall, Halloween, and snowflakes.
  • Early morning is my favorite time of day, and I prefer a good sunrise over a sunset.
  • My mother’s my best friend (and I’m not afraid to admit it)!
  • I’m a chocolate fanatic, coffee fanatic, and wine fanatic — overall fanatic.
  • For me, writing is a process that cannot be rushed.
  • I dream of having a point in my life, where I take three months and do nothing but travel to exotic places.
  • My family is the most important thing to me.
  • I love gardening and tend to have a green thumb outdoors , but will kill any indoor plant almost instantaneously.
  • I used to dream of opening a little bakery/coffee shop, where I’d sell books.
  • I used to be anti-Kindle until I got my first one, then I ate my own words because I could never go without one again.
  • My favorite holiday is Easter. Oh, and I’m a big sucker for Valentines Day. I always have been.
  • My favorite color is that particular light green color used for baby clothes. What is it? Sea-foam?
  • I have an obsessive personality, ( I got it honest. Thanks Mom.) but, thank heavens, it seems to be limited only to my work.

Publication Date: February 12th 2012
Genre: New Adult Fantasy Romance
Pages: 166
Format: Kindle

~Summary~

**18+ and FREE**

What do the Greek gods do when they’re bored? Because they’re always bored. Being alive for thousands of years can get a little old.

They’ve been playing games for eons. Games with human players. Remember Shakespeare? Yeah, that was Apollo. Bonnie and Clyde? Aphrodite vs Ares.

It’s Aphrodite’s turn once again in the rounds of competitions, and she’ll defend her domain: Love. She hasn’t lost a competition on her turf in over three millennia, and she’s not about to start now. Apollo is her first competitor, and he’s on a mission to win. If he wins, he’ll get a token; a favor that Aphrodite must fulfill. And with that favor, he’ll finally get the one woman he’s never been able to have.

Aphrodite and Apollo will choose their human players, and if Aphrodite can’t get them together before the clock runs out, Apollo will get his way. And she couldn’t have that.

Lex and Dean are perfect for each other. They just don’t know it yet.

Dean is a perpetual bachelor, and a man-whore. A brooding, gorgeous, rock star man-whore. Lex always has a boyfriend, but she’s never let anyone in enough to let herself go. Not really. Not ever. Aphrodite has her work cut out for her, but if she can’t make it work, no one can.

But she has more at stake than just Lex and Dean. Apollo killed her mortal love, and that beef has been dragging on for thousands of years. Ares, the douchebag, is forever trying to start a fight, and get Aphrodite into bed. And Persephone, her best friend, is the one person she can confide in, laugh with, and always count on for a healthy helping of bacon when she’s having a bad day.

Follow the gods as they fight, laugh, cry, lose love, and gain power. Making a mess with humans has never been so fun.

~My Thoughts~

Oh my God, they’re so normal….so human and it’s awesome! Completely took me by surprised and because of this I was able to fall into this colorful world quicker than cupid could throw an arrow.
Deer in Headlights has been around and about and around again in the blogging world. It’s been sitting in my kindle for way to long for how much I’ve been dying to pick it up, and yes it’s one I have high expectations for. Were those expectations met? I really don’t know as this story surprised me on where it was going throughout. So yes, I was taken back from some things (not talking about them steaming scenes, who doesn’t love those once in a while ;)) but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
Aphrodite was a bit of a slut but what do you expect, she’s the goddess of love. However when she says she was in love with a man that died centuries ago I just couldn’t believe it sometimes. I was hopeful but at the same time it just didn’t seem right so I’m happy with how that ended up.
Along with that I was amazed with how much background we got on the Gods. I just thought this story was going to be surrounded by the competition between Aphrodite vs Ares, the story mainly surrounding their (human) players, but instead we get so much more. So much more with multiple POV and all this together sometimes felt overwhelming.
However, overall I was smitten by the romance between Lex and Dean. I was smiling, laughing out loud, and getting warm fuzzy feelings throughout the book, even though certain things rubbed me the wrong way but they were very small things. Deer in Headlights hooked me, causing me to get attached to the characters, and making me crave for the next one! I can’t wait to see what other things Aphrodite has up her sleeves, whoever thinks they can win a game of love over the goddess of love is way over their heads.

~My Thoughts~

I must clearly be crazy to read this book. Why? Because I’m arachnophobia, which means I’m afraid of spiders (deathly afraid). Yet here I am, reading a book that contains giant ass spiders and loving it! Haha. Though the giant alien spiders aren’t just that, spiders, they’re mutant spider bodies are combined with another element and it was quite the surprise. Loved it!
You’re probably wondering why I read a book that has giant ass spiders written into it if I’m deathly afraid of them? Well for one, I absolutely love this series! Two, I love Aubrie Dionne and I will jump through hoops (or face my fears) to read her Paradise series! It keeps me so interested and engaged that time flies by without me knowing, those kind of reads are exactly what I want when I’m busy and tired from school.
I enjoy how in each book in this series is based off a different characters point of view. Colonization was based off Annie (Andromeda, not a big fan of this name, quite the tongue twister) and this sequel was based off Nova, Annie’s archenemy. At first I couldn’t really tell the difference from their voices, even though Nova had strong feelings of hatred towards Annie, however as time went by I was able to tell them apart and get attached to Nova as I had gotten attached to Annie and her story. I’m very happy that Nova got what she wanted (not a spoiler, there’s many things she want’s, you’ll have to read to know what I’m talking about).
Reconnaissance starts off right where the first one ended, very little time has passed and that made the read so much more pleasing. And along with that, it isn’t long before the action starts and we’re sitting on the edge of our seats. This made me smile that I didn’t have to wait with the world building (nothing wrong with it, but sometimes when you’re tired it can become a chore) to get to the heart racing and intense scenes. And they were intense! Mrs. Dionne definitely had the hairs on my arms stand on end. Got chills running down my spine throughout the read!
Overall I couldn’t put down this book and when I did, I couldn’t wait to get back to it. At first I didn’t know where this was going or how this one and the first one worked together but at the end I was able to see a bigger picture. I’m hoping to god it doesn’t end with the next one! I can see this series going more than three books.

Reconnaissance is an action packed, spine chilling read that’ll have the hairs on the back of your neck standing up, with a heartwarming romance that shows us that sometimes we are allowed second chances.

Will disturb your being

Aubrie Dionne

Aubrie grew up watching the original Star Wars movies over and over again until she could recite and reenact every single scene in her backyard. She still wonders why the unicorn decided to change back to a unicorn in the end.

Aubrie wrote in her junior high yearbook that she wanted to be "A concert flutist" when she grew up. When she made that happen, she decided one career was not enough and embarked as a fantasy, sci fi author. Two careers seems to keep her busy. For now.

Now M.J. will have to quell the clamor-and listen for a voice with the answers...

~My Thoughts~

I’ve been wanting to read this book for years now and I allowed myself to splurge one day, so I bought this as I wanted something different to read. And was this a blast! Though since I’ve been waiting for years to read it, I definitely acquired a high expectation and even though it wasn’t totally met, I’m still very drawn to read the sequel as Mrs. Laurie has created characters I was able to get attached to.
Sometimes I found this a bit cliché along with the romance, but I still enjoyed it. And the mystery wasn’t quite a mystery, some things caught me off guard but most things I saw coming but again, I enjoyed it. And though our main gal is 30 something, I was still able to connect to her (her having no kids help as I have none right now). Sometimes I forget they still know how to have fun when I read adult books haha. MJ was fun and falling into her ghost busting world was super easy to do with its heart racing action.
Overall, even though this didn’t blow me away like I was hoping, it still was able to charm me and hook me to want to come back for more. Can’t wait to see where MJ’s ghost busting will take her next!

What’s a Ghoul to Do is a fun, cutesy paranormal mystery with a kooky bird that likes to make things more interesting.

Gives you a good haunting

All I could feel was his hard body pressed over me, his sweet lips on mine, and his hands on my skin. I wanted it all. I wanted him. I wiggled under him, so my hips were perfectly aligned with his, and pressed over the large bulge down there. He inhaled sharply, but that didn't stop me. Instead, he thrust into me, making me gasp.

~Excerpt~

Moya stayed in the room the rest of the evening. I knew she was upset after seeing Samantha’s text, so I wanted to assure her again that it meant nothing.
I knocked twice on the door then let myself in when she didn’t respond. She sat down on the loveseat by the window, appearing deep in thought as she picked at her jeans. I sat down next to her.
“Moya, there’s really nothing to be jealous about.”
Slowly, I placed my hand at her back. “Come on, babe don’t let that ruin our weekend.”
   “I’m not jealous. I’m fine.”
   “Really?”
She rose to her feet, walking over to the window. “Yes. Really.”
I got up as well. “You should talk to me when you’re upset, and don’t walk away like you did earlier.”
Her expression relaxed as I took her hand. Turning slightly to meet my gaze, she said, “I’m not used to…being like this. I don’t like it. It makes me feel…”
“Vulnerable,” I finished for her. “I understand, babe.”
She faced me fully, her chocolate brown eyes craving for me. “I hate that another girl loved you that much, before me.” She laughed at herself. “It makes me seem possessive, but I want to love you more…so much more than she did.”
   “That’s intense,” I teased.
Scoffing, Moya rolled her eyes and spun away from me, staring out the window again. I edged closer and cloaked my arms around her. “I like how passionate you are, because I’m the same. I want to be your first and your last. I want every part of you, Moya.”
Seconds later, I was peering into her mesmerizing eyes again. My heart started to race just as her breathing strengthened. There was something rising between us. Heat circulated in the air, making it difficult to control my thoughts.
Unexpectedly, Moya pushed into my chest, biting on my bottom lip as she kissed me hard.
We continued for a while, burning up in desire, until Moya yanked on my shirt and guided me over to the bed.

Our Teasers This Week. . .

Dita stretched out on the floor of her library and ran her fingers through the silky furs under her. A romance novel about time traveling vampires lay split open in front of her, and a cozy fire crackled at her back.

{Book Blitz: Excerpt & Playlist + Giveaway} Burning Down the House by Allie Gail

Burning Down the House
Burning Down the House by Allie Gail
Publication Date: March 17th 2014
Genre: New Adult Contemporary

~Summary~

This book contains strong language and sexual content and is intended for ages 17+.

Rob Kensington is just your typical high school senior. Athletic, intelligent, handsome. Sees a therapist once a week. Because his parents just died in a house fire of questionable origin. And he doesn’t seem to care.
Maybe he isn’t so typical.

Sara Marsh had no clue when she returned to live with her divorced father that the bedroom down the hall would be occupied by a stray with a major attitude problem. The last time she saw Rob, he was a brooding goth who could have passed as Marilyn Manson’s love child. But at some point during her three years away, Creepy Kensington managed to evolve into a sizzling hot star running back with smoldering hazel eyes.

The attraction is undeniable. The temptation is irresistible. And soon they’re sharing more than just an address. But with another life lost in a deliberately set blaze, Sara’s trust is faltering. Has she lost her heart to a serial arsonist? He’s already shown her the allure of playing with fire.

And someone’s about to get burned.

~Excerpt~

“Sara…” He rubbed his forehead like he was developing a headache. “I don’t want your dad worrying about us.”
“Why would he worry about us?”
“He should be worrying. If he knew the thoughts that have been running through my mind lately, he’d be really worried.” He looked over at me but I couldn’t make out his expression in the darkness. “It’s bad enough trying to sleep at night knowing you’re right down the hall from me. You’re so close, sometimes it’s really hard not to…” He gave his head a shake. “Your father has done way too much for me. I owe him a lot. I really don’t think the ideal way for me to express my appreciation is by seducing his daughter. You get what I’m saying?”
Oh. Oh, wow. So he’d been having the naughty thoughts, too. “Yeah. I get what you’re saying.” Sure, I got it - I just really, really didn’t like it.
“I knew I shouldn’t have kissed you. I think I just made things a hundred times harder.” One hand reached down to adjust his pants. “In more ways than one.”
I tried not to smile, but come on. There’s just something about knowing you have that much of an effect on someone. I couldn’t help teasing him a bit. “Eight or nine times a day, huh?”
“I was kidding. Although I may break a personal record tonight. We’ll see.”
“I don’t know how you expect me to sleep knowing you’re in the next room doing that.”
“Well…you could do it too, you know.” His voice softened to almost a whisper, and he leaned in a little closer to me. “It’s a good way to relieve tension. I think you should try it. Oh, yeah…I like that idea. I like it a lot. You touching yourself while thinking about me…now that is one very sexy image.”
I felt like all the air had just been sucked from my lungs. My fingers couldn’t lie still; they clenched the purple chiffon over my thighs as I pressed them tightly together. I swallowed, not trusting myself to speak.
“What if I told you that you’re who I picture when I’m getting myself off? Would that freak you out?”
Oh, holy fuck… “No.” The word came out sounding unintentionally throaty.
“It doesn’t bother you?”
“No. Should it?”
“I don’t know. I’m glad it doesn’t. I seem to be doing it a lot more since I got a look at you naked in the bathtub.”
I was glad the night prevented him from seeing how flushed I’d become. My left hand reached for the heater to turn it off.
“It did suddenly get hot in here, didn’t it?” He laughed softly.
“Yes. It did.” So hot.
“I think we better call it a night now. Is that okay?”
“If you…uh, mm-hm. Sure.” Great. I’d always wanted to find a guy with principles and look what it got me. A heart arrhythmia and damp panties.
