{Release Day Book Blitz + Giveaway} Awakening by Shannon Duffy

Awakening by Shannon Duffy
Release Date: 04/07/15
Entangled Teen

~Summary~

A thrilling, futuristic sci-fi novel set in a unique and thought-provoking world, from author Shannon Duffy.

Desiree Six (because she was born on a Friday) believes in everything the Protectorate stands for. She likes the safety and security of having her entire life planned out—her career, her mate, even the date of her death. She doesn't even think to question when Darien, her childhood friend and neighbor, is convicted of murdering his parents. They had seemed like such a loving family. But if he was convicted, then he must have done it.

Then Darien shows up in her room late one night. He has escaped from the Terrorscape—a nightmare machine used to punish all Noncompliants—and needs Desiree's help. What he tells her rocks her world to its core and makes her doubt everything she's ever been told. With this new information, will Desiree and Darien be able to escape the Protectorate before it's too late?

Why young adults need sci fi and dystopian type books?
Well in my opinion, it’s not just young adults who need these kinds of books, but all people, no matter the age. J Personally, I love sci-fi, fantasy, dystopian, and paranormal books the absolute most. Basically anything in books that can take me outside the realm of the real or current world and way of doing things, I’m probably going to like. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some contemporary too. It’s just that I think it’s such a mental holiday to escape to another world or spice things up with some magic or crazy futuristic technology, or a government that seems to have everything in perfect order, but doesn’t. It just feels so creative and a fun way to explore the impossible or unimaginable. I like to be taken to the future or even the past, or to an alternate existence and way of living. To me, it’s so creative and captivating to imagine all of the what ifs and hows? When an author can make this kind of thing feel authentic, it allows the reader to really immerse themselves into this world or way of life and follow the characters as they struggle to survive or wade through their strange dilemma they’ve found themselves in. Take me on a journey to the unusual, and I’m sold.
I hope I managed to do that with Awakening and that readers enjoy the futuristic world I’ve created. No matter how old I get, I know I’ll always love books that take me away and allow me to experience something unique.

{Cover Reveal} Engage (Ignite #2.5) by Erica Crouch

Engage (Ignite #2.5) by Erica Crouch
Publication Date: May 5th, 2015
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy
Published by: Patchwork Press

~Summary~

Kalaziel is a terrible guardian angel: her temper’s shorter than she is, she swears, she’s missing a wing, and she sees no problem with letting man make their own choices—no matter how questionable. That’s what free will is all about, right? Her overseers disagree.

After she mishandles an assignment, Heaven strips Kala of her title and throws her back into training, hoping to reinforce the covenant of vows she swore to uphold as a guardian. But the angels’ motives aren’t as pure as they appear: they want to eradicate any opinions that conflict with Heaven’s code.

With a mass cleansing on the horizon, Kala discovers she is not alone in her insubordination; there are other angels who are restless with the stasis of Heaven and ready for change. Progress doesn’t come easily, though, especially when it means uniting ancient enemies to fight for a common cause.

Engage is a novella that prequels Kala and Ana’s story in Incite.

~Summary~

Everyone wants to get nailed.

Sometimes the first thing you feel for someone is lust. Maybe it's for a stranger. It might be someone you've only just noticed, or someone whom you've known, but aren't allowed to want. Maybe you just don't know if they're affected by you, if the sound of their voice or the way they touch your hand makes them as crazy as it makes you.

Or, perhaps they want you just as badly as you want them. Sometimes, it's all you can do to stop yourself from acting on it.

#getnailed with these erotic shorts, coming 2015.

~My Thoughts~

In this episode, Picture Show, a woman who was called a prude by her ex decides to spite him by having a sexy quickie with a hot stranger in an old movie theater late at night......

I actually like that Staci doesn't give you a name and really a face to the main character. Instead she gives you enough details to paint a picture and the rest is left to your imagination, it's almost as if this is your fantasy coming to life and quite a beautifully well done one I might add.

Staci's words just flow, creating a beautiful and hooking story! I got sucked in immediately as she painted a picture, creating a scene that'll just sweep you away! It's really breathtaking as she builds a need inside you with her words. I can't wait for episode three!

TBR: April

Hey Y'all

So I've been feeling a bit burnt out with reading or something. I tried to continue reading Elegy by Amanda Hocking but honestly I'm getting a bit bored of it. I'm 222 pages in and it's going nowhere and I still have over 300 pages to go, this might be a DNF book. I wish it wasn't because I've enjoyed the series this far but oh my god, I have to move on. It's become a chore more than anything.

So this month I'm going to read more of what I really can't wait to read, more of the books I just got instead of reading books that have been sitting on my shelves for awhile now and I've kind of lost the lust for them. I'm also not going to plan to read a lot of books, I'm going to leave it kind of open so if I'm craving a certain book I can just pick it up and not worry about it pushing back a book I planned to read.

Review: Game Changer (Playing Games #1) by Rene Folsom

Game Changer (Playing Games #1) by Rene Folsom
Publication Date: December 11th, 2014
Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance
Pages: 178
Format: Kindle
Source: Author
Read: March 16th to 23rd, 2015

~Summary~

Maci strives for one thing in life—anonymity. With her writing career in full bloom, all she wants is to work in peace while concealing her true identity from the public. Though readers love the science fiction worlds she creates, Maci knows that gender stereotypes could damage her career if she is exposed as a woman.

Liam is the envy of all gamers as the lead developer for nZone Studios. Over time, he builds walls around himself, keeping people at arm’s length who only gravitate to him for his material possessions rather than who he is as a person.

With thick barriers around their hearts and their past looming in the shadows, Liam and Maci challenge each other by slowly peeling away their protective layers and seeing each other for who they really are. It doesn’t take long after their chance meeting at a coffee shop for them to become one another’s game changer.

Note: This contemporary romance novel is the first book in the Playing Games series and contains adult situations meant for ages 18+. The prequel to this novel, The Wager, is an optional novella available at all major retailers and only meant to give a little extra back-story about the characters.

~My Thoughts~

I would have finished this quicker as I was instantly hooked, it was refreshing as I've been feeling like I've been in a slump or burnt out, but then my in-laws came over and there was no time for reading haha. I couldn't wait to get back and see if they finally, finally realize that they each have found the person they've been looking for and were going to tell each other.

Oh my gosh, I was squealing when Liam finally realized but then Mrs. Folsom had me sitting on the edge of my seat for the rest of the read. I was screaming in my head, "Would you guys just talk" or "Tell him"/ "Tell her already!" however I understand why Maci didn't tell Liam she realized this is the man she hasn't been able to stop thinking about since their one night stand on New Years Eve. She realized the moment he kissed her but then she realized he didn't recognize her, so she feels like that night didn't mean anything to him and she wasn't as memorable for him like he was for her. What do you expect Maci, he's a guy and they're oblivious haha. But when he finally, finally realized she was the women he couldn't stop thinking about I was so happy!

Maci, I think a lot of authors could relate to her as she's an author herself so many hours in a coffee shop haha. Though sometimes she seems antisocial (I mean, who doesn't once in a while) she's very confident and up for anything, especially if it's gaming. But she's also someone that likes to push the boundaries and step out of stereotyping, starting with her career of being a female sci-fi author. However no one knows she's M.L Thomas, I'm excited for whenever Liam finds out!

Liam is charming and fun but honestly if you're running a business then you need to put your personal life aside and work. Don't bring the drama there or when you're on cloud nine don't act like you don't want to be there. And you shouldn't shut out your friends either. I get he was smitten over Maci but seriously this is your job and life, you shouldn't throw it away now just because you found someone you want to spend everyday with, you still need to make a living. He sometimes bugged me because of this, especially when he got mad at his friend Thad/work partner because Thad wanted/needed him to work on their gaming company. I get when you find the one and want to do nothing but spend time with them but you can't just drop everything else you got going in your life, especially your job- you can't just drop that.

Overall I enjoyed this, I was instantly hooked, couldn't put it down! The story flowed and I liked Maci's sassy self. I also really enjoyed the characters nerdy shirts, who doesn't love a funny graphic tee. This was a light read with some drama. Had me sitting on the edge of my seat, waiting for them to finally tell each other they remember so when they did it was absolutely sweet! I was grinning super hard and on cloud nine by the end of this! I'm hoping Mrs. Folsom will continue their story as it's so cute! So if she does, I can't wait to read what happens to them next and hoping we get some answers about this scumbag of an uncle Maci has.
