~Summary~

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Immortals, Alyson Noël, comes Fateda breathtaking new saga brimming with magic, mystery, and an intoxicating love story that will steal your heart away. Meet The Soul Seekers.

Strange things are happening to Daire Santos. Crows mock her, glowing people stalk her, time stops without warning, and a beautiful boy with unearthly blue eyes haunts all her dreams. Fearing for her daughter’s sanity, Daire’s mother sends her to live with the grandmother she’s never met. A woman who recognizes the visions for what they truly are—the call to her destiny as a Soul Seeker—one who can navigate the worlds between the living and dead.

There on the dusty plains of Enchantment, New Mexico, Daire sets out to harness her mystical powers. But it’s when she meets Dace, the boy from her dreams, that her whole world is shaken to its core. Now Daire is forced to discover if Dace is the one guy she's meant to be with...or if he’s allied with the enemy she's destined to destroy.

~My Thoughts~

Fated felt very refreshing with its colorful world of fantasy tumbling into reality. Daire’s mother is a make-up artist in Hollywood who travels from movie set to set all over the world, she’s someone who can’t stay put in one place for too long. Daire doesn’t mind, she’s used to it as that’s all her life’s been about. But at the latest place she’s at, while on a date with the teen heartthrob of the movie, her reality turns into a nightmare.
Mrs. Noel shows us smoothly in the beginning that something isn’t normal with Daire, she can stop time without her doing. But that’s not it, there’s crows and talking heads on sticks that plague her waking mind when the drumming in the square takes over her senses. It’s feels real and this causes her to go crazy, to the point where her mother decides she has to send her daughter to an estrange grandmother.
At this point it started to feel a bit cliché but I continued since the beginning was absolutely consuming! Breathtaking and I felt as if I was there, as if the crows were coming at me. I was still hooked but that refreshing feeling for this young adult fantasy started to dwindle and to the point where I walked away a bit (my attention span has changed with me having full time schooling).
However, I wanted to finish. I’m tired of starting books and then walking away. So I picked it back up since I did love the beginning and it was able to hook me again. I absolutely love how parts of her dreams were coming true. I also loved the fantasy world Mrs. Noel has created. But just like Daire, you’re just as damn confused as she is about the heritage she comes from. Yes, she’s a seeker (a shaman) but what she can actually do we don’t know, or at least it doesn’t seem real clear. You get bits and pieces but the full picture is one that’s going to take time.
Overall I did enjoy this. Got goose bumps here and there and I absolutely loved the creature Daire met at the end! Seriously awesome! Fated is vividly written and it’ll sink its claws into you with a romance that’ll make you swoon, a sense of humor, animal guides, and bloodily nightmares that’ll bring chills to your spine!
