~Summary~
Adopted by the Alpha of a werewolf pack after a rogue wolf brutally killed her parents right before her eyes, fifteen-year-old Bryn knows only pack life, and the rigid social hierarchy that controls it. That doesn't mean that she's averse to breaking a rule or two.
But when her curiosity gets the better of her and she discovers Chase, a new teen locked in a cage in her guardian's basement, and witnesses him turn into a wolf before her eyes, the horrific memories of her parents' murders return. Bryn becomes obsessed with getting her questions answered, and Chase is the only one who can provide the information she needs.
But in her drive to find the truth, will Bryn push too far beyond the constraints of the pack, forcing her to leave behind her friends, her family, and the identity that she's shaped?

~My Thoughts~
Raised by Wolves was one of those reads I was afraid to pick
up. Why? Because of all those mixed reviews and me thinking it’s going to be another
young adult paranormal romantic cliché, Twilight wannabe (even though no
vampires). But one day I saw it at the library, looking for something that
might catch my attention span, and decided to jump head first into this bad boy
of 418 pages (crazy when I was in a reading slump, haha).
However Mrs. Barnes writing, plotting, laughed out loud sense
of humor and hypnotizing storytelling proved me way wrong! I fell head over heels for Bryn, she was funny,
likeable, and had such a heartbreaking story that you couldn’t help but connect
to her. Those moments where she felt scared and alone Mrs. Barnes wrote them
perfectly as I felt what Bryn felt, giving me chills whenever her haunting
memories came into play….Come out, come
out wherever you are….
Overall this was a captivating read and one gripping wolf
story. One of the bests! And I can’t wait to dive into the sequel, Trial by
Fire. This book was so good I’m left
speechless and that’s always a good thing ;) (It means I’m trying so hard to
write a coherent review without going extreme on saying how freaking amazing it
was over and over again haha.) Seriously
Raised by Wolves was an intense read and watching (feeling) how the wolves ran their
morals and discipline made my body ache just from reading Mrs. Barnes words. An
absolutely sitting on the edge of the seat kind of read and I can’t believe it took me so
long to get to this series!!
~Favorite Quotes~
"Kind of an ironic name for a werewolf." The observation slipped easily off my tongue. The boy didn't blink. In fact, I was beginning to doubt that he'd blink once since I'd come into the room. "Werewolves do a lot of chasing." I explained.
"And your name is Chase. Hee.”
For the first time in weeks, Ali laughed. Go on. And if you're very good, Ali show Bryn big heaping secret. fiiiiiirrrre. Make tasty warm dinosaur meat.”
It will take possession over you
P.S. I was also a Jennifer Lynn Barnes virgin (yet for years I had a gut feeling her books would be amazing) and now I want to read all her books, starting with finally checking out Tattoo from my home towns library (been meaning to for forever!)
Sweet Readings Everybody!
