~Summary~

If there is one thing eighteen-year-old Aurora Sky wants, it’s to get off the iceberg she calls home. Being kissed before she graduates wouldn’t hurt either.

Then a near-fatal car wreck changes everything. Government agents step in and save Aurora’s life in exchange for her services as a vampire hunter. In Alaska. Basically she’s a glorified chew toy. All thanks to her rare blood type, which sends a vampire into temporary paralysis right before she has to finish the job… by hand.

Now Aurora’s only friends are groupies of the undead and the only boy she can think about may very well be a vampire. And if he’s a vampire, will she be forced to kill him?

For ages 18+

~My Thoughts~

Mrs. Jefford knows how to reel one in and keep you along the entertaining rides she creates for us readers. I was hooked the first day and finished the next and that doesn’t happen much when it comes to kindle novels (more than 200 pages). So this was a very quick read for me and I can't wait till the next book comes out. I hear it is more thrilling, action packed, and has a bit of menace along the ride of the words Nikki has created into an awesome sequel, so I am very excited to see how she took the second book.
Anyways, let’s stay on topic shall we ha-ha. I was swept into this world and one that starts up quick. Aurora gets into a car crash in the snowy, icy land of Alaska and this is where her life turns for the worst. Well, at least in the beginning in her eyes. Because of her blood type a special agent group was drawn to her. Here is where she becomes something else, get something that'll make her stronger and have her grow into a kick ass kind of character.
And I absolutely just loved the test the agents put her through. It was thrilling and sitting on the edge of your seat kind of scene, one that got me very excited for this book. Another thing that got me excited about this book was the New Year’s resolutions Aurora wanted to get done; kill a vampire, get drunk, kiss a boy, lose virginity. However the execution of them happen way faster than what I was hoping for, which was going to get them done throughout the book. No, they get done through just a couple of chapters before the halfway point, I believe ha-ha. So that sadden me a bit but like I said, Mrs. Jefford moves fast with her stories.
I was extremely immersed into this story, plot, and world Nikki had created but I just wished we got more of certain things or wished certain things have turned out differently. I wished I got to see more of Alaska, yes Aurora does travel a few times to different places in Alaska but I feel like I needed more description, for I have never been so I wished it could have felt more like I was there with Aurora. Since this is aimed more towards older teens there is a vivid sex scene but one that tells the truth of how a first time goes, painful and bloody. I didn't have a problem with it but I had a problem with Aurora's attitude towards losing it. Sadly she didn't put much thought towards it and just wanted to get rid of being a virgin, though I believe she should have been proud of that, of bring a virgin. A bit of a spoil alert but she had to get drunk to go through with it. Yeah, what a downer. I know first times aren’t all romantic and magical but you should at least do it with someone you truly care about and trust with your very being. So that bugged me.
Another thing that bugged me was at the end we all of a sudden get a big bad guy and it was great till it ends quickly and simply. Though I am happy to hear there will be a much better bad guy in the next book, Northern Bites. But beside those few things and having to get used to Aurora’s personality, overall this kept my attention and I finished quickly. The writing style moves the pace nicely and is done simply but it'll have you glued to this original vampire story with no problem. And one series I cannot wait to continue. So, if you're a fan of vampires then this is a series you should take the time to look into.

Will disturb your being!
