{Book Blitz + Giveaway} Senior Year Bites (The Clanless #1) by J.A Campbell

Senior Year Bites (The Clanless #1) by J.A. Campbell
Release Date: 07/07/14
Untold Press

~Summary~

Senior year is supposed to be fun: boys, dances and graduation. It’s significantly harder to enjoy it when you’re dead.

Thanks to an innocent game of Truth or Dare, I wound up sleeping in a graveyard. Probably not the brightest thing I’ve ever done, but thanks to a couple of well-placed fangs, I’m here to tell the tale.

Vampires might stalk pop culture, but they’re just myths, right? Yeah. Not so much…

Everything seems a lot more difficult when you’re a nocturnal creature of the night, especially school. I was managing, but couldn’t keep it hidden from my friends. Steph decided that we should be cool, like superheroes, and fight crime.

I’m a vampire, not a hero. Living in a sleepy New England town, crime is a little harder to come by. At least it is until a serial killer moves into the area. He’s got the authorities stumped, but then again, the cops don’t have a teenage, blood-sucking, non-hero on their team. It doesn’t take long for me to discover the world is full of monsters. I may be one of them…but will I turn out to be the hero, or the killer everyone is looking for.

~Excerpt~

Chapter 1

I had plans for my last year of college. I was going to find a boyfriend, go to a few dances, and though I hadn't told my mom yet, take some beginning paramedic courses in the spring. I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted to do with my life–wasn't that what college was for?–but I liked the idea of being a hero, like my dad, saving lives every day. That had been the plan anyway, but a sleepover and a late-night dare had changed everything.

A lot.

"Megan, time for school," Mom called up the stairs.

I peeked out the window, squinting at the sunlight glinting off the windshield of my Jeep. It was too damn sunny for me to get from my house to the Jeep without third degree burns–or worse.

"Honey?"

My newly sensitive ears could hear the soft brush of her socks on the carpet as she walked up the stairs. I crawled back into bed and did my best to look tired and sick. It wasn't hard with my pale skin, and I hadn't been eating well. If I didn't let her get a good look at me, she might buy that I had a cold or something. Another thought tickled at the back of my mind. I could make her think I was sick. I shoved the thought away in disgust. I wasn't going to use mind control on someone I loved.

The door creaked open, and Mom walked in. My heart would have been racing–if it still could.

"Megan?" Mom's voice sounded full of concern.

I groaned and pulled the covers down off my head. "Mmmm?"

"It's time for school. You didn't come down for breakfast." Her flat tone covered her worry with annoyance.

"I don't feel well."

"Honey…."

"I don't." I tried to make myself sound hoarse.

"You've been eating so poorly. Try to eat, and then go to school. I'll write a note for you."

I faked a cough.

Mom sighed. "You've been sick so much recently. Maybe you should go to the doctor."

"No, it's just a cold." I hadn't been "sick" that much. We rarely saw the sun this time of year. As long as I wore sunglasses, a hat, and long sleeves, I didn't burn. It was simply really uncomfortable. I felt horrible for the deception, but what could I do?

"It's beautiful outside for a change. Go outside and get some fresh air."

I panicked at the thought. "No, I just want to sleep." And I did. So very much.

It was hard enough to be awake at all on cloudy days; sunny ones were pure torture.

"Meg."

My stomach sank at the worry in Mom's voice, but I couldn't tell her what was wrong. Not only wouldn't she understand, but I didn't want to end up in the freaking loony bin when I claimed I was something that didn't really exist.

"All right, honey. Sleep well. I'll call in sick for you."

"Thanks." I mentally shrank away from her concern and fought tears of frustration. I didn't want my life to be full of lies, which put distance between us. We had to take care of each other, but I could only hide from her.

She shut my door and left, quiet footsteps strangely loud in my ears. I sighed and pulled the blanket over my head again.

My life changed several weeks earlier at my best friend's ill-fated birthday party. Well, ill-fated for me, anyway. Steph had a great time.

Truth or dare, a stupid game everyone I knew played at least once in their lives. Afraid of the truth, I had chosen the dare–spend the rest of the night in the graveyard near Steph's house. Easy enough, right? Well, it had been up until the point where I was attacked and killed. It wasn't something you normally walked away from, but for better or for worse, I had.

Vampires were in books, movies, and on TV, but I'd never believed they were real. Still, it hadn't been hard to figure out what had happened to me. Dealing with it was another story. It had taken several almost disastrous mishaps–going for a walk in the bright sunshine had been particularly painful–to convince me. Now, the cloudy New England days that had been the bane of my existence provided my only semblance of a normal life.

~Summary~

Love ignites in the City That Never Sleeps, but can it last?

And after a chance encounter in Manhattan over the summer, romance might be closer than Isla imagined. Featuring cameos from fan-favorites Anna, Étienne, Lola, and Cricket, this sweet and sexy story of true love—set against the stunning backdrops of New York City, Paris, and Barcelona—is a swoonworthy conclusion to Stephanie Perkins’s beloved series.

~My Thoughts~

I was so excited when I got this as a gift from my dad but as time went on I started to become anxious with wanting to read it. Having high expectations, because I'm so excited to be back in the City of Love, but reading the reviews kind of made me scared. Eventually I told that small voice of fear in the back of my mind to shut up and picked up the book. I mean, who doesn't love to fall in love? I know I fall head over heels for my husband everyday and while he was away this book definitely helped me cope.

Though Isla and the Happily Ever After didn't completely sweep me off my feet I still enjoyed it. It felt a little too perfect, not much was happening and there wasn't any real struggle. It was one of those loves that came unexpected and just felt right. This is the reason why I just couldn't fall head over heels. However, Mrs. Perkins wrote it beautifully and showed a different type of love, it's the kind of love that happened to me.

I think another reason I couldn't fall into this world is because sometimes Isla just rubbed me the wrong way. Especially when she got mad at her best friend Kirk, seriously the girl just needed to chill, but she's young so emotions can be uncontrollable and not handled well. Not wanting to spoil anything but I definitely got mad at her at the end of the book, I was close to throwing the book at a wall, it was emotional and we all have had insecurities so I understand where she's coming from but she should have just talked it out! But when things feel to good to be true little doubts can start to form.

Josh on the other hand was charming as ever! I would seriously love to see this in his point of view! He surely swept me off my feet!

Overall I was glad to be back in Paris! It was one of the things I loved with Anna and the French Kiss! And I honestly don't mind that I was reading about a couple of rich kids making love. When it's right it's right and how they live is their parents doing because it's their parents money.....so I was able to let it go. And yes, they're are a couple sex scenes in this book but Mrs. Perkins did them perfectly! They were appropriate and perfect for older teens. I was actually shocked when I read there were some in here from a review because you don't have a lot of that in young adult, I loved that Mrs. Perkins pushed the boundaries!

Also, once again Anna and Etienne stole the show at the end of the book and in a big way too!! Oh my god, I'm so happy for them!! I was smiling ear to ear!! Anna and the French Kiss is going to be forever my favorite!!

Was Isla and the Happily Ever After worth the wait? Absolutely! Though I may not have been Isla biggest fan I sure loved her and Josh's love story. Sometimes if you're lucky love can just come easy and that's how it was for them. Though I missed the swooning before they got together, there was still enough for me to enjoy their story. The ending killed me with the swooning!

On a side note- I'm also a nail tech and this cover is absolutely beautiful! It got my creative juices flowing so I created this 3d flower encapsulated look.....

~Summary~

When sex becomes an obsession...

Desperate to continue funding her Family Free clinics, Gretchen Fox agrees to an unorthodox business deal with the mysterious and eccentric billionaire, James Gordon. His control over her is established, as he observes and records her in a series of naughty encounters.

Not content to be a billionaire's plaything, Gretchen turns the tables on her employer, chaining him to a bed. He is at her mercy now, helpless, naked, and utterly enraged. Her obsession is about to be realized, and there is nothing he can do to stop her.

This story contains erotic romance, lesbian sex, bondage, threesomes, anal sex, double penetration, rough sex, rimming, forced orgasm, kidnapping, and dominance and submission. All characters are eighteen and above. Adult 18+

~My Thoughts~

A girls got to do what a girls got to do....

Gretchen is on a hunt for a new funder to provide for her families non profit Free Clinics. With her last chance meeting with billionaire James Gordon he gives her a proposition, he'll give her the money in return of her becoming his sex plaything. At first she thinks he's insane and it's a no deal but of course something happens and she has no choice but to agree if she wants her families free clinics to survive.

I too thought he was insane, like who comes up with these things? And when Gretchen asked him why he choose her his answer was half ass if you ask me. But I guess that's another reason why his character is so mysterious and why Gretchen eventually becomes obsessed with him. I can see why she became obsessed, he gave her nothing so she had to find everything out on her own (it's like when teenage girls are crushing on teen heart throbs, we've all been there). However, I thought her obsession of hers was going to come sooner and maybe me reading this off my phone made me feel like it took forever.

Her obsession comes to light at the end of the book and from the summary I thought it was going to be the focal point of the story. However, it's all build up. It wasn't bad, not in the least! I was turning hot page after hot page, I just couldn't put it down cause I just had to know what the billionaire planned to do to her next. But again, from the summary I just thought it was going to be her finally taking control.

Overall, I enjoyed this! It's definitely kinky and from the very beginning! I was hooked, couldn't pull my eyes away! Though I enjoyed the steamy scenes I just couldn't connect to James and the relationship that apparently bloomed between Gretchen and him. I honestly don't see what they have is more than just lust. But other than that, it was interesting
