~Summary~

“Saving him meant saving her colony…”

Lyra Bryan has been saving people her whole life from a chick in the ventilation pipes to her mentally ill brother when his mind drifts back to Old Earth. She meets her match when she finds a gorgeous alien man aboard the arachnid ship. Captured after a failed attempt to save his people, his spirit is broken, craving only vengeance. To save her colony, Lyra must save his body and soul.

Lyra’s lifemate, Tauren, is jealous of her obsession with the alien man and will do anything in his power to break them apart. While they travel to the arachnid’s home world to defeat the mother brain once and for all, they must set aside their differences and work as a team. But, can Tauren be trusted?

~My Thoughts~

It took me a while to fall into this as we're now behind another character's eyes, but one that we've seen before in this series, and once I got the gist of who it was I was able to fall effortlessly into this world! Mrs. Dionne does well with providing information when need be on characters to remind us who they are without making it feel overwhelming for us. This world is beautifully detailed and I just love going on these adventures with this cast of characters! I get so sucked in that it feels absolutely real!

Once again the enemies for Lyra and her colony is the eight legged alien species from the previous book Reconnaissance. And me being absolutely deathly afraid of spiders this book was definitely creepy for me. The details are very vivid so whenever they were in the scene I definitely felt as if the little creepy crawlers were crawling all over me, so this was a spine chilling read for me haha.

Now onto the other side of the story, the romance! Lyra is excited that the former leader of the colony discontinued the lifemate program so now she has the chance to leave Tauren- a very jealous man. This man has a temper and towards any man that steps foot near Lyra and his temper has been brought up a notch because Lyra has eyes for an alien man she saved on the ship that captured her in Reconnaissance. Though I got swept up with the heat between them and the swooning, sometimes I would get annoyed when she's thinking about her feelings or wondering if he returns her feelings in times she should be thinking of running away. However, I like how Mrs. Dionne thinks the same and Lyra shakes herself out of the trance and snides herself for being distracted haha. It's actually a brilliant balance!

Overall I'm so sad to see this series end! I feel like they could go on so many adventures on this new world they're at! But no matter, I enjoyed the ride while it lasted! Alliance had me on my toes, making me have to read one more chapter. I could breeze right through this action packed book! There were moments that really pulled at my heart strings and I loved how real this world felt to me! I definitely got attached to these characters easily and when Lyra finally stood up to Tauren and told him it was over I was definitely going "You go girl!" haha. I'm just dying to read Mrs. Dionne The New Dawn series as I believe it's a prequel to this series, I'm just craving more of this world! If you love science fiction and romance then this is a series you definitely have to check out!
