~Summary~

A haunting trio of short stories about love, obsession, and secrets. Each short story is titled after a song, The National's Apartment Story, Placebo's Scared of Girls, and Skunk Anansie's Post Orgasmic Chill.

Apartment Story
A lonely married woman nostalgically rekindles a friendship with a former lover and the apartment they shared. Dark secrets and mysteries surround the apartment building and its new tenants that delve deep into the woman's psyche and prove to be fatal.

Scared of Girls
A glamorous go-go dancer and a failing university student are bound by a dark secret that may change their fates forever.

Post Orgasmic Chill
The destinies of a cynical rock star, a groupie, an arrogant DJ, and naïve university student intertwine in a rainy London that serves as the backdrop to their tormented lives. Secrets and lies coincide in this dark tale of love gone wrong.

Hauntingly spare, beautiful, and twisted, Doll Parts is a disquieting and at times darkly morbid collection of short stories about normal people who suddenly discover their own dark possibilities.

~My Thoughts~

My reaction after reading each story-

Apartment Story: Ohmigosh, that ending! I was standing on my toes waiting for the reveal of what was going on and then when it's starting to get good, it ended! Why?! I have two theories of what happened at the end and I won't talk about them because I don't want to spoil anything but oh my god, I want to know what happens and see which of my theories is right. So not fair!

Scared of Girls: At first I was surprised how cruel these people were treating the main character. In this day and age, these life styles are a little more accepted. But then I thought since this takes place in another country and not in the States, maybe different cultures aren't quite as accepting. Then later on in the story I found out this was taking place in 2003 and not 2015, so now I understood why they weren't so open minded about him. This was truly a powerful story.

Post Orgasmic Chill: Compared to the first two this was a bit meh and I probably only felt that way because I wasn't expecting to be reading behind four different point of views. I don't mind reading behind so many but the first transition threw me off and it took me a second to go with the flow. But I did enjoy following each story line except for Daniel but only because he's a total creep and a scum bag, kind of deserved what happened to him. Though I think Alizee took it a little too far, she deserved to get justice because her boyfriend was a total jerk and she deserved better.

My thoughts of the overall collection-

I love when authors aren't afraid to dip there toes on the darker side of things! These stories are twisted, morbid and had me sitting on the edge of my seat! The cover is what brought me in and though I'm trying to figure out how the title relates with the stories inside, I truly enjoyed these tales! They're creepy, causing chills to run up my spin whether the sun is up or not. And the details truly stick with you after days go by from finishing them!
