Waiting on Wednesday (23)

Welcome to Waiting on Wednesday! Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases we are eagerly anticipating. This week I am anxiously awaiting:

Dead is a Battlefield by Marlene Perez
Publicaton Date: March 6, 2012
Genre: YA Fantasy
Pages: 240

Jessica Walsh is starting her freshman year at Nightshade High and trying to forget about the tragic events surrounding her brother’s graduation. She wants to have a normal high school experience. But that’s easier said than done in Nightshade.

When a new boy shows up at school, the girls are infected with a case of seriously creepy crushes. But when their obsession turns to violence, Jessica and her friends start to wonder if there’s more going on than just a little friendly rivalry. Are the smitten girls turning into love zombies?

And Jessica has other worries—like her crush on Dominic Gray, the cute but moody new singer for Side Effects May Vary, and the mysterious tattoo that appeared on her arm one day and lets her know whenever there is trouble brewing. Jessica learns she's a Virago, a woman warrior chosen to fight evil whenever it threatens her hometown. But does a lowly freshman really have what it takes to keep Nightshade safe?

This is a spin off of her current series Dead is....I've only read one book of her's which was Dead Is the New Black. And, it was okay. One day I'll have to pick up the second in the series and give it a go, Dead IS a State of Mind.

It definitly was a fast read and interesting. I probably didn't get hooked into it that much because I read some stupid comment about how it was just trying to be like twilight or trying to go off the hype. But looking at that now anything that delt with Vampires and Werewovles people were no doubt going to compare the two, even if they're nothing a like. So I'll have to pick the series up again.

Anyways, this spin off sounds fun and a new theme to add to my ever growing paranormal pile of books. Can't wait and I just love the cover. :)

Infamous by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Infamous (Chronicles of Nick, #3)
Go to school. Get good grades. Stay out of trouble. That’s the mandate for most kids. But Nick Gautier isn’t the average teenager. He’s a boy with a destiny not even he fully understands. And his first mandate is to stay alive while everyone, even his own father, tries to kill him.

He’s learned to annihilate zombies and raise the dead, divination and clairvoyance, so why is learning to drive such a difficulty? But that isn’t the primary skill he has to master. Survival is.

And in order to survive, his next lesson makes all the others pale in comparison. He is on the brink of becoming either the greatest hero mankind has ever known.

Or he’ll be the one who ends the world. With enemies new and old gathering forces, he will have to call on every part of himself to fight or he’ll lose everyone he cares about.

Even himself.
This is the third book of the Chronicles of Nick series. I've read the first two books and loved them. I read the second one a little while after it came out, so I've been waiting for this book for a long time. The first one, Infinity, was fast paced, funny, and had some good action. The same could be said of the second one, Invincible.
I hope this one will be just as good, if not better. It seems like it will be a good addition to the series.
