Waiting on Wednesday (28)

Welcome to Waiting on Wednesday! Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases we are eagerly anticipating. This week I am anxiously awaiting:

The Rise of Nine (Lorien Legacies #3) by Pittacus Lore
Publication Date: August 21, 2012
Genre: YA, Science Fiction, Fantasy
Pages: 416

Summary

It all began with nine. Nine aliens who left their home planet of Lorien when it fell under attack by the evil Mogadorians—who scattered on Earth and went into hiding. They look like ordinary teenagers, but they have extraordinary skills. The Mogadorians killed Number One, Number Two, and Number Three. They tried to kill Number Four ... and failed.

Number Four (aka John Smith) has now teamed up with Number Nine, while Six has gone off to find the others. With the Mogadorians hot on their trail and time running out, they must find a way to come together, before it's too late. Power in numbers will save them all.

I read the first one a little bit before the movie that's based off it, I am Number Four, came out.
I really liked the book, which surprised me. With the movie coming out before it, I really didn't have that high of expectations. And in my opinion, even though I liked the movie, the book was better.

The second one, The Power of Six, was just as good as the first. And I can't wait to see what this one will be like.

Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris
Publication Date: April 24th 2012
Genre: YA Fantasy
Pages: 445
Goodreads

Summary

Two days before the start of her junior year, seventeen-year-old Janelle Tenner is hit by a pickup truck and killed—as in blinding light, scenes of her life flashing before her, and then nothing. Except the next thing she knows, she's opening her eyes to find Ben Michaels, a loner from her high school whom Janelle has never talked to, leaning over her. And even though it isn't possible, she knows—with every fiber of her being—that Ben has somehow brought her back to life.

But her revival, and Ben's possible role in it, is only the first of the puzzles that Janelle must solve. While snooping in her FBI agent father's files for clues about her accident, she uncovers a clock that seems to be counting down to something—but to what? And when someone close to Janelle is killed, she can no longer deny what's right in front of her: Everything that's happened—the accident, the murder, the countdown clock, Ben's sudden appearance in her life—points to the end of life as she knows it. And as the clock ticks down, she realizes that if she wants to put a stop to the end of the world, she's going to need to uncover Ben's secrets—and keep from falling in love with him in the process.

From debut author Elizabeth Norris comes this shattering novel of one girl's fight to save herself, her world, and the boy she never saw coming.

The first bit of words reminds me of the series Roswell. But the rest sounds great. :)

Happy Hump Day Everybody!

  1. I'm so excited for 'The Power of Nine'! I love the first two books in the series. 'I Am Number Four' used to be my favorite book, but it's taken second place ever since I read 'The Maze Runner'.
