~Summary~

Harper only wanted a safe, normal life. But when her younger sister Gemma runs off with a dangerous clique of beautiful girls, Penn, Thea, and Lexi, everything changes. Vowing to get her sister back no matter what the cost, Harper must face dangers unlike any she's ever experienced. Fortunately, she has Daniel by her side, a gorgeous guy who's devoted to helping her find her sister—and who's immune to the girls' dark powers.

While Harper searches for her sister, Gemma struggles to adjust to her new life. Gemma's powers are growing by the day, and the longer she lives with her new "sisters," the harder it is to resist entering their magical world. It's a realm both dark and beautiful, and where she's plagued by strange hungers and unspeakable needs. Just as she's drifting far away from her old life, Harper and Daniel find her...but no one can deny how much she's changed. All she wants is to return to her family and the mortal world, but how can she do that when she's become something else entirely—and will they still love her once they learn the truth?

Prepare to fall under the spell of Lullaby, the second book in the Watersong series from New York Timesbestselling author Amanda Hocking.

~My Thoughts~

This takes off right where Wake left off. So if you have yet to read Wake, the first in this series, then I suggest you look away from this review.
Harper and Alex have to deal with the aftermath of losing Gemma. Harper has to break the news to her father and then has to make sure her father keeps living. Make sure he doesn't lose his job when they so badly need him to make sure he keeps it, especially if Harper and Alex do find a way to get Gemma back.
I guess some readers thought this book was a letdown. Me, personally I find this written right and very real. What did you suspect that they find Gemma in the first chapter? Sorry but it’s not CSI and they're able to find them in an hour. This has to be more closely to real life and in real life things like this takes time. Lots and lots of time. So Harper and the gang have to find a balance in finding Gemma but also making sure their own lives keep moving forward. Sometimes it’s hard on the characters and why wouldn't it be. To me this feels completely real. If you lost someone dear to you, yes you'd search for them like crazy but at the same time you’d have to make sure your other responsibilities get fulfilled too.
It’s a sad and tough thing to go through and I'm so sorry for the people in real life that actually have to go through this. Cause unlike this book, not everyone else finds their lost one and brings them back home.
Harper finds this balance with the help of Alex and Daniel. Along with this challenge Harper is fighting against another, her feelings for Daniel. I love how well paced these relationships are. These relationships are by far the best out of all of Amanda's books. They actually develop right in front of your eyes and well for me,  I can actually feel the passion behind their words. Feel the love these characters have for one other and it’s absolutely amazing. Total swoon worthy! Though yes there are moments I just want to shake Harper silly and yell at her "just freaking kiss him already, we both know you like him" but I also understand why she's hesitant towards him.
Alex, he is oh so passionate in finding Gemma and you can't help but feel bad for the guy. His heart belongs to her and it just melts my own heart. When they finally reunite, I just couldn't get enough of that scene and I just wanted it to keep going on and on. This is the moment where he sees what she really is now but he doesn't have a care in the world of what she is. He still sees the beautiful girl he fell in love with. Oh don't I just hate the ending, makes my heart break and I'm just dying for the third book in this series!

Like last time we got to read behind the eyes of Harper and Gemma. Though we get more from Harper in this one we still get a good dose of Gemma and the new changes she is going through. Her stubbornness to truly become one of the sirens ends in her health not being the greatest and this thoroughly pisses off Penn. Penn is still a bitch of course but she has to be if she wants to be a good enemy.
Oh boy, the details on pretty much everything was kick ass you guys! Gemma and her first kill, the decrease in her health and losing of hair, how sirens rip out the hearts of men, how they truly hypnotize men to get their way, how they change into that beast of a bird. Just everything and it sucks you in from the beginning. I was hooked and reeled in in no time. I read this while in a reading slump and it helped me get out of it. I just couldn't put this book down and when I sadly had to, it hurt badly. The story and the characters just wouldn't leave me alone but this bookworm didn't mind it one bit. ;) Oh, and there is light in this book. There is humor and most of it comes from Marcy, Harpers friend/coworker. She made me laugh out loud many times and for a book to do that is rare.
Seriously if you want a good evil siren tale then pick up this series. If you want a story to develop as if it fit perfectly in our own world then pick up this series. Or if you're just a fan of Amanda Hocking's writing and unique stories then pick up yourself a copy!
